Apple Backs LG After Trouble From Samsung Over iPhone 8 OLED Screen

Apple iPhone Back LG
Apple has a unique relationship with Samsung. On one hand, it competes with the Korean firm in the smartphone market, and on the other, it is highly dependent on the company for its smartphones. In fact, Apple seemingly depends too much on Samsung, which is probably the sole provider of the iPhone 8 OLED screen. However, the U.S. firm seems to be working on a plan to end Samsung’s leverage.

Lesson learned from iPhone 8 OLED screen supply issues

Apple has gained immensely after Samsung’s Note 7 turn into a disaster, and the iPhone maker appears to be in no mood to suffer supply shortages of components, specifically, the OLED display. Trusted KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Samsung’s OLED technology will be the biggest supply chain bottleneck for Apple in the future. Hence, the iPhone maker has apparently decided to support LG as a supplier.
Apple iPhone Back LG
According to Kuo, Apple is making a big investment in LG to support its production of OLED displays for future iPhones. Kuo states that the iPhone 8 OLED screen panel has been the “single most troublesome component for Apple in terms of bargaining power.”
Thus, to limit Samsung’s bargaining power, “We think Apple is therefore committed to having LGD geared up for its OLED iPhone display business in 2018 as it seeks to reduce supply risks,” Kuo says.
The analyst believes the company will procure 10% to 20% of the OLED screens it needs from LG by 2019, and he adds that this percentage will rise to 20% to 30% in 2020.
“This will in turn continuously boost Apple’s bargaining power on OLED prices,” Kuo noted.

Accelerating LG’s OLED display production

Samsung will be massively affected from this Apple-LG partnership, for the precise reason that it was assumed earlier that the Korean firm would be the exclusive OLED screen supplier for the iPhone starting with the iPhone 8. According to earlier reports, Samsung’s ability to supply large quantities and meet Apple’s quality standards made it the perfect choice for supplier of the iPhone 8 OLED display.
Apple’s investment in LG Display is reportedly worth 3 trillion won or $2.7 billion, according to South Korean publication Korea Economic Daily. The report claimed that the investment is for the sole purpose of producing OLED panels and is just an advance payment.
Further, Kuo states that LG and General Interface Solution (GIS), a Foxconn subsidiary, will work together, with LG using its expertise for the production of the display panels and GIS assisting in the lamination processes. GIS will also reportedly use its expertise in production troubleshooting and vertical integration, making it the perfect partner to develop LG in a major Apple supplier.
“GIS likely favored to team up with LGD in OLED for credentials in lamination, experience with MegaSite & advantages of vertical integration with Hon Hai,” Kuo says.
Apple is not the only smartphone maker that is investing in ramping up LG’s production process. Reportedly, Google invested 1 trillion won or about $900 million in LG’s OLED display production. Microsoft could also be one of LG’s first customers for foldable OLED displays.
In pre-market trading today, Apple shares were in the green.

iPhone 8 releases late 2017 and no longer in white
apple-iphone-8-render
IPhone season is almost here but a new report from Macotakara outlines the possibility of delays of iPhone 8 release date ‼ and initial supply shortages. The report explains that the "premium model" will likely be unveiled alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, but its release will likely be delayed.

It also says that the release "has the possibility" of being during the first half  of Apple's Q1 2018, which runs from October through December. While specifics are unclear, early production indicated that it is "not possible" to make the device in white, further suggesting "that color variation is few."

It also added that Apple is considering a "natural unlocking mechanism" following the addition of Raise to Wake, though it's unclear as to how exactly this feature would work.

Furthermore, the report adds that the “initial sale period has a high possibility to be limited.”
Moving on from supply and production rumors, the report says Apple will not produce the iPhone in a white color option. While specifics are unclear, early production has reportedly indicated that it is “not possible” to make the device in white, further suggesting “that color variation is few.” An earlier report claimed the device would come in a new mirror-like color variation, but today’s report makes no mention of that.
As for Touch ID, Macotakara claims that it’s unlikely the fingerprint technology will be included in the power button as some recent renders have suggested. The report doesn’t offer any additional details as to where Touch ID will be located, though.
Finally, the report says it is “highly likely” the iPhone 8 will include face recognition in the form of Face ID that “assembles a rainbow color certificate and a 3D facial recognition certificate.” It also adds that Apple is considering a “natural unlocking mechanism” following the addition of Raise to Wake, though it’s unclear as to how exactly this feature would work.
Macotakara has a relatively strong track record, much more so than other sources behind iPhone 8 rumors this year. Nevertheless, it’s always wise to take iPhone 8 reports with a grain of salt as it’s possible even Apple hasn’t made final decisions yet.
Samsung Pay may be available on non-Samsung phones soon
samsung-pay
Ever since the Galaxy S6, one of the unique features of Samsung's flagship smartphones has been Samsung Pay. The ability to use your phone to pay for things using both NFC and older MST technology essentially makes Samsung's payment service accepted anywhere. And soon, Samsung might bring this technology to non-Samsung phones too. 😱

Samsung uses special components⁉ within its flagship handsets that allows them to mimic MST transmissions so you can pay  at older terminals that don't accept NFC, and at this point in time, Samsung is looking at 2⃣ possibilities to make this possible on other OEM hardware.

Google's done a commendable job building up Android Pay to what it is today, but even so, being able to use both NFC and MST technology to pay for things adds a lot of functionality that Google simply cannot offer right now.

As for the other option, Samsung is also said be toying with an accessory of some sort that would bring similar functionality to other phones. This route would reportedly be in Samsung’s best interest, and although we don’t have any idea what this accessory would look like, it’s imagined to be along the lines of what LoopPay is currently doing.
While none of these reports have been confirmed by Samsung, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited at the idea of Samsung Pay coming to other Android devices. Google’s done a commendable job building up Android Pay to what it is today, but even so, being able to use both NFC and MST technology to pay for things adds a lot of functionality that Google simply cannot offer right now.
Apple discontinues iPod nano and shuffle
Sources have confirmed with Apple that iPod nano and shuffle are indeed discontinued and will eventually be removed from sale in retail stores too. Apple has also updated the iPod touch lineup in the process, now offering only 32GB and 128GB models at reduced prices.
ipod-nano-shuffle

Apple today quietly removed its iPod nano and iPod shuffle product pages from its website, indicating that the company could be moving towards officially discontinuing the products. The move makes the iPod touch the only iPod left on Apple’s website available for sale.
While the current iteration of the products have long been considered to be on their last leg—both having been last updated in 2015 with new colors but otherwise the same since 2012— it’s unclear if Apple is just removing their presence from online or will also stop selling the devices in its retail stores where as of recent weeks its had stock of both products in many locations. One Apple retail source we spoke with said there hadn’t been any notice or indication the product would be removed from sale.

Why Driverless Cars May Never Work In Nigeria

The world is moving to a stage where everything is automated but Nigeria is just behind the limelight and always one of  the last to embrace new technologies and the government is not helping things either.

The Challenge Of Using Driverless Cars In Nigeria

Most of the road networks in Nigeria are unorganized so this poses a threat for the use of driverless cars. Apart from the road networks there are also other pressing issues that may place Nigeria far behind in embracing the use of driverless cars. The country lacks stable electricity, there are slow Internet connections in some areas and a very disorganized public transport system.

Since these vehicles are automated and need a fast and stable internet connection to work it may take years before driverless cars would be in use in Nigeria if these issues are not tackled. However, bad governance is slowly killing the future of technology in Nigeria. The funds meant to be used to improve the lives of the citizens are being embezzled and the Nigerian people have adopted a way of life that keeps them going strong despite the hardship.

Nigerians have learnt to smile even in the midst of pain and hardship. I must say that it's quite appalling that a country like Nigeria that is called "The Giant Of Africa" ( a name I feel Nigeria no longer deserves as they have learnt to celebrate mediocrity over meritocracy) does not have 24 hours electricity after over 50 years of existence.A particular group of persons are enjoying while the masses are suffering.

Driverless Cars
I've taken time to analyze the worst case scenarios that could occur if driverless cars come to Nigeria.

1. Reckless Danfo Drivers Ramming Into To The Cars.

(Danfo is a yellow bus usually used commercially around Lagos, Nigeria)

Automated cars have had their fair share of crashes, even Google's driverless car is exempted.
Most automated cars rely on artificial intelligence to predict the movement of the cars around.
An average Nigerian doesn't need a geek to tell him that before you can use artificial intelligence to predict the movements of these drivers, your artificial intelligence logic must be out of this world.

2. Owners Of Automated Cars Will Get Stuck The Road

Most traffic jams are caused when someone decides to break traffic rules and others decide to follow. It's either a traffic jam drains your car battery and you end up stuck on the road. Considering the fact that most automated cars especially Tesla cars are charged, with the current state of electricity in the country, it's almost a bad idea to even think of using an automated car here.

3. A Pothole Wrecks Your Engine

I've always wanted potholes to be shown on Google Maps for Nigeria but I guess it's going to take a while. 😂 😂

Engines of these cars are very expensive and I'm not yet sure if there are repair stations I'm Nigeria. This simply means that, if the A.I can't detect the potholes, then autopilot mode isn't a very good option.

I'd love to know what you think about having cars without drivers on Nigerian roads.

The US Government Bans Kaspersky Antivirus
Kaspersky
The General Services Administration (US) has validated that Kaspersky Antivirus is no longer an approved software vendor. This means that federal agencies and state departments are not permitted to purchase software products from Kaspersky. Several reports from people suggest that the security firm had great ties than initially thought with Russian intelligence agency FSB.

The US Government Banned Kaspersky Antivirus

Kaspersky Lab, the Russian cyber security company, maintains almost 400 million users worldwide. This will come as a shock to you that the Trump administration on Tuesday removed Kaspersky Lab from two lists of approved vendors chosen by government agencies to purchase technology equipment.
Here’s what General Services Administration said:
“GSA’s priorities are to ensure the security and integrity of US government networks and systems and evaluate service and products and available on their contracts using supply chain risk management processes.”
Well, this is not the first time Kaspersky had raised concerns regarding the collaboration with Russia. Recently, reports from US-based Media, including Bloomberg News suggest that the security firm had great ties than initially thought with Russian intelligence agency FSB.
On the other hand, the security firm denied all the allegations on laid on them; it had explained on its website that the company doesn’t have any ‘inappropriate’ ties with any government. Kaspersky also added it company sole options is to fight cyber crime.
Bloomberg claimed that they had captured internal company emails that served as proof of a ‘much closer working relationship’ between Kaspersky and FSB. However, Kaspersky Lab said the communication was ‘misinterpreted or manipulated.’
Here’s what the firm said:
“Kaspersky Lab is very public about the fact that it assists law enforcement agencies around the world with fighting cyber threats, including those in Russia, by providing cyber security expertise on malware and cyber attacks.”
“When assisting in official Russian cyber crime investigations, by Russian law, we only provide technical expertise throughout the investigation to help them catch cyber criminals. Concerning raids and physically catching cyber criminals, Kaspersky-Lab might ride along to examine any digital evidence found, but that is the extent of our participation, as we do not track hackers’ locations. Kaspersky-Lab doesn’t provide any government agencies, nor other parties, with information on the location of people and doesn’t gather ‘identifying data from customers’ computers’ because it is technically impossible.”
Kaspersky-Lab had also declined all the charges by claiming that it is “unjustly accused without any hard evidence”
The World's Slimmest Gaming Laptop is Asus Zephyrus
Usually when you hear about gaming laptops, what you'll first visualize is one heavy, and bulky piece of metal.. ( machine) .

You have seen that from one of the world's most powerful laptop the Acer predator X21. But that's not the case here with the Asus Zephyrus GX501, which measures only 18mm in thickness and weighs less than 230 grams, making it nearly the size of an ultrabook. It ships with Intel's core i7-7700HQ and Nvidia GTX 1080 thanks to Nvidia's new generation “Max-Q” GPU.

The Asus Zephyrus is the first laptop to use the Nvidia's latest Max-Q GPU technology. Which is aimed at making thin systems with high-end components with the GTX 1080 by sacrificing a little performance for portability.

Design
Looking at the Zephyrus, you can tell that Asus really put a lot of effort in making this laptop. From the design you can see the placement of the keyboard, it's very close to the front and it has little holes to support airflow.

On opening the laptop, you can see an open vent at the bottom which also allows cooling and airflow.

Also the Touchpad can be turned into a digital number pad, which is really cool.

Display

The down side of the Zephyrus is the 1080p display (Full HD), which is not really bad for a 15 inch laptop, but would have been better as a 4k screen which some other gaming laptops are equipped with.

The Zephyrus sports an IPS display, a 120Hz refresh rate and also supports G-sync which is definitely great for ultra-smooth gameplay.

Performance

From the specifications, you'll definitely know the Zephyrus is no slouch, rocking Intel's core-i7700HQ @ 3.6GHz CPU, a GTX 1080(8GB GDDR5X) Max-Q, 512GB NVME SSD, 64GB DDR4 RAM, 1080p resolution, the Zephyrus can definitely handle any game comfortably.

But obviously one major performance issue is CPU throttling and high heat temperature which you should expect from any gaming laptop as there isn't a sufficient cooling system.

Here are Pictures of Its Performance Benchmark :

Price and Availability,

Well with all the hard work and effort put into the Asus Zephyrus, you should expect it be quite expensive. Retailing for about $2,699 the Zephyrus is really quite expensive.

Asus plans to release a lower version of Zephyrus later this August with half the storage and a GTX 1070 at $2,229.

In conclusion Asus has really done a great job with the Asus Zephyrus,
So what do you think about the Asus Zephyrus GX501? I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments section.

Microsoft is killing off Windows Phone 8.1 support today

WINDOWS 8.1 ENDS TODAY
Microsoft is killing off Windows Phone 8.1 support today, more than three years after the company first introduced the update. The end of support marks an end to the Windows Phone era, and the millions of devices still running the operating system. While most have accepted that the death of Windows Phone occurred more than a year ago, AdDuplex estimates that nearly 80 percent of all Windows-powered phones are still running Windows Phone 7, Windows Phone 8, or Windows Phone 8.1. All of these handsets are now officially unsupported, and only 20 percent of all Windows phones are running the latest Windows 10 Mobile OS.
Windows Phone 8.1 was a big update to Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system, and included the company’s Cortana digital assistant, a new notification center, UI changes, and updates to the core mobile OS. It marked one of Microsoft’s biggest efforts with its Windows Phone work, but it wasn't successful at competing with Android and iOS. 99.6 percent of all new smartphones now run Android or iOS, and Microsoft has given up producing its own Lumia-branded hardware as a result.
While Microsoft still supports Windows 10 Mobile, it’s not clear what that support will include in the future. Microsoft pushed updates to Windows Phone 8 devices, but the software giant barely included any feature updates in the recent Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update. Microsoft is adding a number of features to the upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update for PCs, but the company has not extended these to the mobile version in testing. Some rumors suggest that Microsoft has forked its Windows Mobile development into a “feature2” branch that will simply maintain the operating system until support ends in 2018.
Microsoft has shied away from officially killing off its phone OS efforts, but it’s been evident over the past year that the company is no longer focusing its efforts on Windows for phones. Microsoft gutted its phone business last year, resulting in thousands of job cuts. During Microsoft’s recent Build and Inspire conferences, CEO Satya Nadella dropped the company’s mantra of “mobile-first, cloud-first” in favor of a focus on what he describes as the intelligent cloud and intelligent edge. This new area of focus means Microsoft is now working on multi-device scenarios and cloud-powered technologies that don’t always involve Windows. Microsoft’s new mobile strategy now appears to involve making iOS and Android devices better.

New Smartphone Spy App Let's You Monitor Others Secretly

Smartphone Spy App Let's You Monitor Others Secretly

Spying techniques have evolved over time, allowing some to gain power over others. Though it is generally used as a negative connotation, spying often delivers positive results. Due to mass proliferation of tech gizmos, it has an ever-increasing demand today among the business and household sectors. However, no need for you to become James Bond or don your best disguise to spy someone.

In the current techno-digital era, mobile spying application has emerged as a viable platform for monitoring a target. Following someone or snooping into their devices is quite mundane now. With new technology being piped into mobile apps, users can remotely spy on their targets, be it concerned parents, zealous bosses, or jealous spouses.

There is a plethora of spy apps in the market, among which Xnspy is currently dominating the monitoring spectrum. Let’s have a detailed review of the spy app so that users can make an informed purchase decision about it.

Xnspy – Overview
Much hype about the app on different web forums is because of its specific design for less savvy people. XNSPY is a powerful yet intuitive app that enables a user to remotely access the target information. What’s interesting about the app is that is promotes covert monitoring so the user can attain target information in a discreet manner.

The main aim of Xnspy is to monitor and report target information undetectably. The app runs quietly in the background of the target phone without interfering in its functions. There is a web-based control panel called online dashboard, available in xnspy that transfers all the target information to the user device. So to begin spying, the first step is to create an online account to subscribe to the app.

Though Xnspy claims to offer real-time monitoring, the use of iCloud login credentials blows away all such claims. You need to back-up the iCloud data to ensure real-time monitoring of a device. Also, a strong internet connection is a prerequisite for real-time monitoring.
Apart from such temporary issues, Xnspy is a premium app offering an extensive range of features to budgeted users. It is indeed a friendly user interface that makes navigation of the app features easier for customers. The drop-down menu further adds to user convenience.

Compatibility and Installation
Xnspy is an app that works best with all iOS and Android devices. It is a cinch to set-up and install. It takes about 3-5minutes to launch the app in the target phone. There are is a clear set of instructions for the users to walk through the installation process. In spite of the lack of free trial, Xnspy lures a number of potential users and recompense the flaw by offering a live demo on its website. It also does not require any configuration or license codes for verification during the installation.

All android smartphones, whether rooted or non-rooted require physical installation of Xnspy. A jailbreak iPhone also has a similar process for installation. However, in a non-jailbreak iPhone, only iCloud login credentials of the user are required. No physical access of the phone is mandatory. This technique is much hassle-free for the less savvy users who do not want to get into the intricacies of jailbreaking.

Features of Xnspy
Being a handy surveillance tool, xnspy offers state-of-the-art features to the customers. It contains ubiquitous features as well as some exciting add-ons that make it a decent choice for spying.

Call log monitoring allows the user to view the entire record of all the incoming/outgoing and missed calls along with the call details.
Reading texts and IM chats enables the user to monitor the message correspondence of the target as well as the exchange of photos, videos, audio files, or documents shared on any IM platform.

Tracking GPS location of the target depicts their exact location and shows it on a map.
Geo-fencing creates a virtual barricade for the target and alerts the user if the target reaches an unapproved place.

Online surveillance of the target is done by monitoring their activities online. Social media apps like Instagram, Tinder, or Kik provides an insight into the social life of the target.
Watch-list alerts can be made on call logs, texts or location to immediately inform the user of any unauthorized activity of the target.

Recording phone calls and surroundings gives a more authentic approach to monitoring. These calls are recorded automatically.
Remote commands can be made to the control panel to wipe off target data, block certain apps, or lock the target phone screen. This is specifically helpful in case the target phone is stolen.
Pros and cons of Xnspy

There is no mobile spying application without flaws yet and XNSPY is no exception. To provide a more detailed analysis of Xnspy, here is a list of some pros and cons mentioned below.

Pros
Customer-centric.
Offers a good value for money.
No configuration codes required for installation
Discreet and stealthy.
No toll on the target device when functioning.

Cons
Lacks a free trial service.
Stringent refund policies.
Advanced features require Jailbreak versions.
Location tracking removes stealth.

Conclusion
In the bottom line, XNSPY indeed offers diverse opportunities and uses to the customers. It is a user-friendly app that ensures automated monitoring and reporting. It is definitely cheap, as compared to other apps but often lacks the advanced features promised by its counterparts. You can make up a purchase decision based on your requirements for monitoring, however Xnspy is not the one to disappoint.

GTB Naira Master Card Limit for Foreign Transaction now $1000 Monthly
Right now the urgency to get a dollar master card will reduce considering this upward review of dollar transactions on naira master card. This has been a battle ever since when Nigerian banks set limits to naira Master cards usage for foreign transaction.
The good news is that you can now use your Naira Master Card to shop on foreign sites like AliExpress, Gearbest etc with monthly limits of $1000. At-least this will save you the hassle of opening a dollar accounts or using barter virtual cards.
GTB Naira Master Card Limit for Foreign Transaction now $1000
As at yesterday, GTB charges N380 per dollar which is still very much on the high side and I’m not comfortable with that. If you already have a dollar account, no need to use your naira master card, just buy dollars from Bureau de’change and initiate your transaction; but if you don’t, then you can make use of your Naira Master card.

The bad news is that to make withdrawals with your naira master card abroad, you'll be charge N1000 instead of N420; and you can only withdrawal $300 daily.
